For reasons yet to be determined, part of a house on Belden Hill Road caught fire today, Monday, March 7, damaging the residence and forcing a road closure from Old Belden Hill Road to Grist Mill Road. No injuries were reported.
Around 8:30 a.m., Wilton Fire Department got the initial call. Five units arrived shortly thereafter, and commanders positioned two fire engines next to 516 Belden Hill Road, where the active fire was reported.
Several fire agencies from area towns also responded. Weston, New Canaan and Westport each provided a ladder truck, and the Weston fire chief came to the scene. Wilton EMS responded as well, as did Wilton CERT.
The Ridgefield Fire Department also provided mutual aid by sending units to man fire headquarters on Danbury Road.
